Just for reference, Kleinschmidt equipment was also built by National Cash
Register, W.O. Boehm (sp) and now we have uncovered a Burroughs!
My guesses on reasons:
1. They needed more then Kleinschmidt could produce
2. They wanted multiple sources
3. They paid for the product design and had the rights to second source it.
