I have answered this question several times before.  Here I go again 
for those of you who were not paying attention...

Years ago there was a company that built hardware for 
teletypesetting,  the name of the company was Teletypesetting 
Corporation.  As the business slowed down they mostly supported the 
machines that were in service.   As the need for service slowed down 
they looked for a new business to get into.  That business was GPS 
software.   The company had a lot of tradition in their name but it 
was starting to become meaningless, so when the name Teletype became 
available they grabbed it.

This information was provided to me when I called Teletype 
Corporation in Michigan and spoke with one of their older executives.

The name of the company and the brand Teletype is all that they use. 
The old logos are no longer registered trademarks and the old 
publications are no longer under copyright restrictions.
