[GreenKeys] final question on ST-6...

Hah - you think *you* had it bad...

I had to fill the coal scuttle everytime I wanted to use
my ST-1. It took hours of stoking before the magic-eye
tubes came to life.

Then, if I wanted to switch speeds, I had to swap out
the running wheel and 45.45 Baud hampsters in the Model 1
and replace them with the big wheel and 75 Baud squirrels.

Don't ask me how many squirrels I'd go thru, just trying
to copy one of those pin-ups from WA6PIR, either! And
those things bite bigtime!

And I don't wanna hear ANYTHING about those fancy-schmancy
reperfs you got. I haddah cut newspapers into tiny strips,
and scotch-tape them together, end-to-end. Then I had to
borrow the punch that the train conductor uses to cancel
your ticket - to punch holes in the tape. That's right:
one hole at a time. We *knew* the ITA#2 back in those
days and could do that no problem.

Also, if there wasn't a thunderstorm in the area,
so that I could collect electricity with my kite,
that meant there wouldn't be enough voltage in the
laden-jars and I couldn't transmit that day.

You kids just don't understand. You got it too easy - with
your inner-net and indoor plumbing.

73,
W6ESE - tonyp
