I thought that I had lost this document and was happy to recently discover
it in a box of Teletype manuals.

It is a April 1971 booklet that was internally distributed to Western Union
Technicians in order to put some processes in place when inspecting,
lubricating, adjusting, cleaning and testing Model 28 and 35 ASR, KSR and RO machines
in a customer environment.

This preventive maintenance booklet may already exist somewhere on the
Internet or in private collectors hands. I just haven't seen it outside of the
copy that I have here. Maybe it has been on EBay and I haven't seen it.

The nice thing about this document is that it brings together, in a single
booklet, what is contained in eight different Teletype Bulletins. And, this
booklet contains pictures showing where the oil and grease are supposed to go.

I think that this type of information would be useful to anyone who
maintains M28 and M35 equipment.

I was wondering if someone would be interested in working to get this
booklet into PDF format and getting it posted on a website that we all can use.
I'd be happy to loan this document to that person for a reasonable period of
time. This is not a trivial exercise as the booklet is approximately 180 pages
long and is 5" x 8.5".

Anyone interested in this project?

As an aside, when Western Union implemented this booklet, many of the
customer machines had not seen oil / grease in a long time. Doing Preventive
Maintenance was (sadly) a foreign concept to many technicians within the company.
As a result, there were a number of doubters.

The phrase that I remember best about this program was:

"...A PM in the AM, is a DM in the PM.." which translates: "...A
Preventive Maintenance in the morning is a Demand Maintenance that afternoon..."
