I have two of them, larger and fancier -- one is electrified, and
has a 117L6 for a headphone oscillator. The other is a windup.
Both have leatherette-covered cases with hinged, removable covers.
They're not rare, I paid $50 for one with the original code key
and a bunch of tapes in cans, in good to fair shape, working
order.
The tape "reader" is a kludge; a thin spring arm with knurled
screw rides on the tape; the contact lifts by less than the
thickness of the paper tape. It does work though, and it seems
they made a lot of these things.
