Hi
Best bet on the IF's would be 10.7 or 21.4 MHz. Of course it could be
almost anything from 455 KHz through 70 MHz.
Judging only by the option tag on the rear panel it's set up for
IEEE-488 rather than RS-232. Since there are BNC's labeled data 1 and
data 2 it's not clear quite what that means. Best guess would be +/- 5
volt output on the BNC's - just like the Tempest Dovetrons.
A *very* cool looking piece of gear. Without a manual who knows what
you can or can't do with it. Since the serial numbers are in the 800's
on some of the modules at least there is a chance that a manual exists
out there.
I have bought enough stuff from AST (like half the basement) to pretty
well know what their "checked ok" status is. The unit fires up and the
lights and knobs do what you would expect if you never saw one before.
Checking the 488 interface is a bit past what they normally do. I have
never regretted any of the deals I have had with them, I just don't pay
an enormous amount of money for the stuff I buy from them.
AST's normal selling pattern is to list something like this a couple of
times at a high price and then start cutting it pretty steeply. Who
knows if it will go for $1000 or $10.
Take Care!
