I was a Radioman 2nd Class aboard the Intrepid from 1969-1970.  It is nice to hear about the gear in the radio room.  I think that most of it is as I left it as the Intrepid was taken out of service in the early 70's.

I was a 'no code' Radioman 2nd as I had been a Communications Technician 3rd, CYN3 (ie teletype operator) and did not have to learn the code, but with the help of some code tape and the R-390's at the CW position I finally got my Novice Ticket.  I pass the test in GITMO Bay and was WN0ALF/MMR2 until I got out.

I hope to go to NYC and see the ship again before I die!
