As fate would have it, I never was able to log onto the Autostart  Net.  I 
read about the Net in RTTY Journal, but I had just started a job,  after 
college, in the Telex department at Western Union Telegraph and had little  time to 
play. 
 
I did order an HA cut crystal from International Crystal in 1974 for the  Net 
frequency.  But, that is as far as I got.
 
I know this because that crystal sat unused, along with the postmarked  
letter and documentation from International Crystal -- for 30 years!   I retired in 
April 2004 and when the cold weather started to hit in  Philadelphia, I 
decided to get my Collins TX and M28 back on the air.  My  first QSO with that 
crystal was 30 years and six months after I received  it.
 
So, I missed all the fun on the Autostart Net.  But, I am using the  crystal 
for RTTY contest work.  I've padded the crystal a bit so I'm  now on 14073.5 
on any RTTY contest weekend.
