   I want to second this little 'gotcha' - I had reported rather poor, 
'distorted' audio on my end - it turned out to be the equalizer in Winamp 
having settings retained from something I was doing previously.

   Setting it to 'flat' and making the gain '0' (ie middle) cured the 
problems - visible on the MMTTY Scopes as 'fuzz' on the waterfall display 
and a cloud of out-of-band 'hits' on the Cross Display.

   The symptoms were dropped letters and failure to USOS...
