   It has been my experience with Shoutcast in general that they are prone 
to these 'spike' dropouts - it seems to be a function of overall netwook 
traffic - it happens at different times on all their 'channels' - some 
better, some worse.  I am behind broadband-over-cable at 3MBS, hardware 
and software firewalls, and a small Blekin ethernet switch to the CAT5 
network in the house.

   For example, we have used Shoutcast to 'broadcast' lectures in real time 
to students in remote areas of the US - they all report the same, about 
90-95% 'uptime'. I also noted this in my monitoring.

   I have been able to cure some of this by dismissing and re-launching 
Winamp, but still there is no actual pointer to the problem, and no 'fix' 
as of yet.
