15 and 20 meters wild with rtty sigs. Copied a variety of European
stations on 15 this am. yesterday when the contest began printed a
bunch of JA/JF/JG/JH stations. KH6 from hawaii on 4 meters. Even
printed south american stations on 10 today. What an opportunity to
give the TU and printer a good workout.

I find that my IRL FSK-1000 will handle adjacent frequency signals
better than the Doveton. I bet the ST-6 will also. I know it's the
receiver fault! NOT! In some cases it might be but if you know how to
operate your receiver, and using MMTTY on the computer to tune the
passband etc. looking for the best setting on the receiver for that pair
of tones or any pair as far as that goes can make the world of
difference. When printing K4EEG's signals on 10.137 mc this past year i
could adjust several controls on the receiver looking at MMTTY and
really narrow the passband so that adjacent channel stuff was of very
little concern. Just appears that the IRL TU has sharper filters in
it. My observation. I took pictures of it and sent them to him and a
couple others who had inquired about it. Neat stuff

2nd item: I just put a VM between the Dovetron and my computer chassis
and measure nothing at all. Same results with the IRL TU. I've got the
regular power connector and cable on the Dovetron and both units are
grounded to the rack common ground. Nope, didn't remove the grounds to
verify anything going on there. Both units plugged into the same wall
outlet however so that wiring could, i say could be straight.

The loop on the IRL which is what i use to drive the 38 is a floating
loop. No ground return. I tried the ground on one side and caused
things to happen that the critters in the keying circuit didn't like.
had i read the book or looked at the loop jack on the back of the tu in
the first place i'd have saved myself some headaches. Some folks say to
read the manual first!

Good luck with the 60 Vac on the dovetron frame.

3rd item: With all the rtty stations on the air today, never see any
postings from them on the list here and other than Stan, AK0B, i've not
seen any call signs that are common on the list either. Maybe a
recruiting drive?
