Hello everybody!

Yes, our net, mainly still based in Germany, is called "TelexPhone". The
intention when creating the system was to make a modem based dial-up
automatic telex-network compatible to the tw39 telex system (2-wire,
single current, rotary dial). More standards still to be implemented.
The TelexPhone uses a CCITT V.21 external modem. While the connection is
beeing established the PIC Microcontrollers of the parties' TelexPhone
boards do a (hidden to the user) simple software handshake using ascii
code at 300 baud. Then, the teleprinters are directly connected to the
modem. There is no code translation or interception in any way between
the machines. The "Gegenschreiben" works as well.
When you call your party by phone while also having a TelexPhone
connection you cannot distinguish between your and your party's
teleprinter's sound.

details.
Best Regards,
Philipp
