Jack,
The HW-101 systems were notorious for drift, but would do probably 50w out 
without having too much problem.  They will require some external cooling to 
survive even that.  If someone was VERY good at wiring VFO's, it might be 
usable.  I used a SB-401/303 pair for years, but "graduated" to solid state 
as soon as I could, hi.  Welcome to RTTY if you decide to go for it.  I 
would welcome more greenkeyers to talk to on the air!!
