I think I saw one of these once, years ago in a surplus shop. It was in
a big steel cabinet with a frosted-glass screen on the top, about 6' tall,
maybe 3' wide, 3' deep - been 30 years - don't quote me on the dims... ;}.
Anyway, the printer fed the tape under a species of epidiascope - a very
bright light was focussed onto the tape, and then the image was directed
through mirrors and lenses onto the rear of the screen, thus being able to
be read at a distance, or by multiple folks.
I do not remember if there were facilites to 'loop' the printed tape
back and forth to keep more of the message traffic on the screen - but
that might have been possible.
