Welcome to GreenKeys.
 
You can get started at many levels and with multiple long-term goals.
 
You don't say where you are located.   If you are in the States,  you may 
wish to
start looking for a clean and working Teletype machine.  If you are in  EU or 
Asia Pac, you might find it is easier to find a good clean Creed or  Siemens 
machine.
 
You might find that someone on this list is close to you and has excess  
equipment.  Or, you can start looking on eBay to see what comes  available.
 
Once you have a machine, you can hook it directly to your PC, adding free  
MMTTY software and a soundcard (see the AA5AU webpage -  WWW dot  AA5AU dot com 
slash rtty) to copy the bulletins from ITTY (at) READYSETSURF  dot COM.
 
If you are interested in receiving (mostly ham radio) traffic over the  radio 
waves, you'll need a stable and sensitive shortwave radio receiver.  
Selection of a receiver that meets your needs and pocketbook could be a multi  part 
message all by itself!
