Please tell me more.
I have several machines, they look the same externally,
but have different electronics inside.
They look easy to fix, just swap cards.
The machine looks like a computer mind set
has collided with teleprinter thinking.
It is in a very heavy cast alloy case,
has a 28vdc internal supply, which has a 110vac and 240vac
input transformer and rectifier, so it can run off any of the voltages.
The 28vdc then has a switcher box (box unplugs), that generates
all the voltages to work the logic and the computer, and drive the motors.
It has a dot matrix printhead with a normal ribbon,
and looks like a rugged printer mechanisim.
Unplug 3 connectors, undo 4 captive screws,
and the whole printer comes out, put in a new one.
The card frame has several cards, cpu, memory, motor drivers, interface.
It does BAUDOT as well as ASCII, and has several speeds,
similar to the UGC-74, probably just as heavy.
Detachable keyboard, so it can be an ROPP as well as a terminal.
A couple of mine have SECRET on the front of them, so they were probably
used on secure military circuits.
Alas I have no manual and have only got them partially going by guesswork.
Mine will receive a character on the interface, type one from the keyboard,
the head moves, the carriage returns, the paper feeds,
but it never prints anything!
I'll keep plugging away.
Regards
ray
