Thanks to all who replied, both here and by email. I did run about a 60
ft. longwire through the house - and cruised the bands several times
Sunday - spending an hour or so each time.

I'm not a HAM - and while copying several on-going QSOs last evening
helped confirm that the receiver I was using was OK (I drug out a BC-348
rather than one of the "heavy iron boxes") - it also re-affirmed that I
have little interest in the "typical" HAM "conversation" -- no offense
meant - but my area of interest was and still is news, military traffic,
etc.

I had recently regretted selling off my ttys a few years back (3sp 28
KSR, Kleinschmidt typing reperf., etc.)- and was considering getting a
replacement of some sort.

After this weekend- and finding the reality of the dearth of "stuff" *of
interest to me* to listen to, I've come to the conclusion that obtaining
ttys then having next to nothing for them to print would be just an
exercise in futility.

What peripherals, parts, manuals, etc. I do have - will be passed on to
those that can use them - as I get the time to dig them out, etc.

A disappointment? yes-- but I'm glad to have discovered it before I
went through the effort, expense, etc. of chasing down a 28 KSR/ASR or
such - only then to find what I found this weekend.

Thanks again for all the good suggestions, and a trip down memory lane.

best regards...
