Good afternoon Greenkeyers,

I had to resend this msg, because the one I sent previously got rejected
as "spam" from some filter program --hi--

Ok,. here's my dilemma.

I have a M28ASR which I am restoring to USN specs (it is currently in WU
livery). Now, in it's present configuration, it has
60wpm gearing, a non-printing perforator, and, of course, no underdome
reperf.

I wish to add the complete underdome reperforator assembly. I do have
the reperf itself, the gearshifts for the reperf, but no other parts.
If anyone out there has the mounting, the motor, the shaft and gearing
for the underdome reperf, along with the wiring harness, please let me
know. I have several reperfs for trade, and also several reperf
gearshifts for trade.

I also would like a printing perforator I I would be willing to trade
the non-printing as part of the deal, Now, in addition, I would like a
set of 100 WPM gears for the mainshaft, because I realize that the
gearshift asssemblies are basically unobtainium at this point. The last
two that I know of will be ignominiously sunk with the USS America later
this month (there were 2 full up 28ASR;s in CIC, which I was suprised to
see when the president of the Museum Foundation and I were aboard last
year) but we were not allowed to salvage same... some gorilla had tried
to "demil" the keyboard by hitting it with a hammer, but out of the two,
I could have built at least one good kbd assembly... They were the only
two Teletypes aboard.... and frankly, I was suprised to see any at all..
considering the advances in the state of the art since my days of
kicking the 28's of all flavors into submission back in the
'60's.....Everything else was totally and hopelessly demilled...
I believe the innards weren't smashed because said gorilla didn't know
how to get the lid open ;-).

If you want to know and have bitter tears fall, 2 R-1051's were totally
smashed with sledge hammers to almost unrecognizability, along with 2
URA-17's and the idjits used the point of a fire axe right thru the
CRT's before smashing the rest. All the switch panels were destroyed
and the knobs and switch shafts broken off...

At the time we were aboard, we still had hopes of saving her for a
museum, but alas, that was not to be, so, the 28ASR will now reside in
my shack, and copy RATT with my Dovetron and my TTY-Connect the way it
was meant to... I do, however
want to fit it out with the underdome reperf, so if anyone can help me
out finding the parts (tape reel, mounts, motor, etc, I would be greatly
appreciative...

Incidentally, I want to thank Don House for his generosity for the TDA.
That, too will be used as intended in the ham shack, which , in it's own
way, will now become the Greenkey museum instead of the USS America...

73 es tnx
