I am in the process of restoring a M29 ASR . Since I want this unit to
look Navy "Milspec", and it is currently in WU livery, I am going to
have to repaint the cabinet, etc etc.. However, I want to install an
underdome reperf.
I was hoping to get same off the USS America, before they took her out
and sank her for tests (I found two when I was aboard in 1992, in the
old CIC) but was unable to remove anything from the ship for restoration
at that time OPNOTE: we of the musuem foundation were still hoping to
save her for a museum ship, and I personally wanted to restore Main Comm
and Radio Central to their configuration in the '80s since that was the
time I served aboard, and kicked many a 28 into submission.
Now, I have plenty of the reperforators themselves, but am lacking all
the ancillary stuff, the mounts, the tape reel, the motor and gear train
and the shafts. Since I have a manual, I will be glad to give a full
parts breakdown if anyone so desires, but I do want
to get a full underdome reperf running in this 28 for my own shack and
my own collection. In addition, if anyone has a n extra gearshift for
the mainshaft of this unit, I would appreciate the opportunity to obtain
this (yes, I know the things are pure unobtanium) I have at least 3
shifts for the reperfs, so a trade could possibly be arranged. I just
want to be able to go thru the speeds without that annoying gear change.
Also, if anyone has a 75 and 100 speed gear for a Mite (the plastic
drive gear) not the pinion, which is the same for all speeds,
I would be interested. I really don't need the 75, ecause that is
rather rare, but 100 would help a lot
anyhow, thanks much
