Russ,

The ST6 puts out a plus/minus "FSK" voltage that follows your
series-connected keybaord/printer loop signals. The diode/cap/choke circuit is all you should need. I used the same circuit with my Drake Line and even in my old HT37. Simplest way to install: put parts on a perf board, attach near the VFO tube (make suree you have a good ground), unplug your VFO tube, stick a thin wire in the cathode socket pin, and plug the tube back in.
Then, fiddle with the variable cap to get your shift. Beware that in some rigs the shift will be different on each band (if your rig is an old timer that doubles/triples the VFO output for each band). This is a lot easier than when I had to use a 6AL5 in my Heath VF-1!
Nowadays, I shift my Kenwood TS870S by using a small open-collector keying adaptor that goes in series with the Dovetron's loop. The adaptor then keys the FSK input on the rig.
