Hi John
Thanks for the help. I print out the emails and underline what I need to
remember. Jack is sending me an old TU ST-5 with 850 and 170 shift with an
internal tone generator for AFSK. I think I said that all in proper order. Hi
Hi
When I go on ebay and type in RTTY, I see all these things that I guess go
between the TTY and the radio, but I don't have a clue at this stage of the game
what ones go with what setup. Last week I did my first research on
telecommunications, and boy was I surprised to find that radio engineers use more
combinations of sound frequencies than a Beethoven symphony. Real eye opener!
I did do some research on that Heavy Metal program. I would be way happy if
I could get that going, but again, I did not understand the converter that
goes between the computer and the 19 set. I think that I looked at two
converters, one seemed simple, one seemed very complex and expensive to build.
My temporary loop supply is an old Heath Kit regulated power supply. I used
the B+ voltage out put, and yes the milliampere meter did sure help. I also
put the large resistor in line as I was told to do to keep milliamps down to
60. When I attach the loop supply, the machine gets quiet and the clutch starts
to work.
I was 16 in 1966, so that is 102 years ago. I remember we had cars then, but
they came with anchors instead of disk brakes.
Thanks again,
Jan or John depending on how you pronounce it
