I have an early (#108) ST-8000 with V2.0 firmware and have been
trying to understand how the print squelch and diversity controls
are supposed to operate in a non-diversity setup.
According to the manual, in a non-diversity setup, the diversity
control becomes a signal amplitude squelch and the print control
is a squelch that detects mark-space transitions (an RTTY
character, not just a steady mark signal).
In the absence of a RTTY signal with mark-space transitions, the
LOS (loss of signal) light is supposed to come on, but mine does
not. Instead, the print squelch really has no effect, but the
diversity control (amplitude squelch) seems to work fine.
I'd like to know whether this is the proper behavior of the print
squelch, diversity control, and LOS indicator - anyone???
Thanks, Ron W6XY
