I've been beating my head against the keyboard trying to figure out a simple way to put my newly aquired dovetron TU to work. I took a look at the back of it today after removing it from the rack where its been causing lights to flash and, well kinda neat to tune in signals that aren't the usual 170 cycle shift.
I see that mine has an AFSK output at -0- Db. Well i also have an ST-6 and of course it takes a 600 ohm input (works best with 600 ohm as it adds some range to the limiting circuit). So why not run the AFSK which is tones out of the dovertron that has been decoded from the receiver into the ST-6 audio input? Now i've got a Dovetron driving my ST-6 and thats driving my 28 printer loop.
Have i been beating my head against the desk top to long?
Nope, haven't tried it. Feasable? Why not?
At least this should satisfy my receive capabilities.
When going into transmit mode you'd have to put both units into standby mode but the AFSK output of the ST-6 can then be run into the audio input of the FT-990 (patch in).
tell me i haven't lost my marbles. This is really simple right? now to prove that it won't work.
BTW, nothing from K4EEG on 20 or 40 meters here in Arizona. 20 meters almost dead all day. W1 AW bulletin was in and out but not as strong as they usually are.
Sigh.
