Hi Bob & all,
I think a better term would be Net Coordinator, as suggested by Jack,
WA2HWJ. I don't think anyone wants to control anything; certainly not
me.
In addition to providing a frequency standard for others to tune to, the
net coordinator could provide a standard for shift, and agree to have a
station on the air 24/7 with WRU capability so that net members could 1)
always have a station on frequency to check propagation, 2) Make sure
the are "getting out" and are on the correct frequency by polling the
net coordinator's WRU.
I think the bulletin transmissions would be of interest to both hams and
non hams that just want something to copy on the air. We might include
ARRL bulletins, propagation bulletins, and perhaps a short "introduction
to the net" bulletin that tells what we are all about ( keeping RTTY
and mechanical TTY machines alive and operating) and which would
include the various protocols such as always ending a line with
(CR)(CR)(LF)(LTRS) and the various codes for auto start bulletin
reception, individual station selcals, etc., as well as a schedule for
bulletin transmissions. We might even include a guest editorial each
month on some aspect of RTTY since we no longer have a dedicated
magazine with the closure of the "New RTTY Journal".
All of these are just suggestions for group consideration. I am not
trying to force anything on anyone.
I have been listening to 10.133 for three days now. Sounds pretty
clear. There was a little Pactor on the frequency for five or ten
minutes this afternoon. I am hearing what sounds like a very faint
foreign SW broadcast station on there at present (1945 CDT) centered on
10.13450.
Best regards -- Roy Norris, K4EEG

Hi
I think the term "net control" may be misused here.
