In the continuing quest to adequately model all the aspects of a 
conventional teleprinter loop we nave established a working model for 
another aspect of the loop. A common back yard ant crushed in a set of 
contacts runs about 6.5 K ohms at 240 volts. Capacitance and inductance 
is negligible. The model seems to hold for voltages down to the 
milivolt region and up at least to 330 volts peak (the limit of the 
measurement setup). While extensive modeling over frequency was not 
performed it is assumed that the model is valid at least up to a few 
tens of KHz (or tens of Kcps ...).

Both wet and dry keying of the the loop were attempted with the ant in 
place and results were not encouraging. Further experimentation with 
contact enhancement in this manner are not anticipated unless our 
application for a federal grant comes through ....
