Hi
Early on a lot more of the world was wired for 25 cycles than it is
today. For that matter the house I grew up in started out life wired
for 25 cycles. I don't think it stayed that way much past WW I though.
Edison didn't get a whole lot of stuff built before Westinghouse nuked
him in the power business.
Since Edison and GE had some pretty heavy political connections I'm
wondering if they got 25 cycle power put into ships built in the WW I
era. If so at least some of those ships were still technically a
possible site for a model 28.
I had not thought of island power systems. Most of the world outside
the US was either 50 or 60 Hz (except for parts of Russia that were
both .... long story ...). I was not aware of much 25 Hz stuff getting
exported. I would think that it would almost have to be a US island to
have had the privilege of running 25 Hz.
Take Care!
