Ever since I heard my first selector magnet stop the clatter, as you all said
it would, I have been thinking what about the Clutches? I have more
important worries in my life, but I threw this one on the pile as well. Now, I can
see the felt clutch and assembly on the main shaft of my TD, and I can see how
to adjust it, but what about the clutch on the printer. Actually, the clutch
on the TD needs a little adjustment, for once in a while, I have to give the
shaft a little push to get it started, then it works fine for what ever time I
am playing with the tape. I put a nice wrench on the adjusting nut on the TD,
but it did not act like it wanted to be turned. I looked for bent down
locking tabs, but could not find any. I am a way better mechanic than I am a radio
man, so I knew enough to not force the issue. So, the question comes down to
adjustments and should I be concerned while practicing my typing that I may
wear out an irreplaceable clutch soon?
