Yes, Gil,  this is what I think I read in The New RTTY Handbook, little end 
of message codes and courtesies through the use of characters and carriage 
returns and line feeds and bells, good lord don't forget the bells.  hihi As I 
remember reading, the break key played a part in this, as well, as in the days of 
telegraph.
