Dear All,
Some progress at last with my restored NATO Unimog
teletype truck.
Have been exchanging short transmissions with a friend
who owns an identical vehicle in Holland (Amsterdam).
Working 100W in F1 mode on either 3.59 or 7.04 MHz, we
have so far managed between 30 and 50% copy. Small
steps admittedly, but a start nevertheless. Our
problems currently relate (I believe) to our
restrictive urban transmitting locations - lots of
background noise and insufficient space to erect an
adequate antenna and ground plane. We will therefore
next try setting up in the countryside which will at
least permit a full antenna configuration. Will keep
you posted on developments.
