I think that I remember the same story: "...that makes creative use of the  
signal bell and the letters/figs function..."  I wonder if others do  too?   If 
it's the one that I'm thinking about, it starts, as "...Some  girls like to 
hug and kiss..."  That one works well on a M15 or M19.   Not at all on a M28, 
Creed, or Siemens.  
 
Thanks for remembering that one and the one about the S3X life of an
