I have had a Model 15 and also a Kleinscmidt FGC-20
and I tyed a long wire around around each TTY and
lowered in a boiling solvent trichlorethane for a few
minutes and then removed the TTY's out of the solvent.
With in seconds the solvent evaporated. I then sprayed
light oil all over the TTY's. I put the proper oils in the
the bearings and also the felts.
Be sure to disconnect the typing unit from the base.
that is the only thing I put in the solvent. Otherwise it
may cause damage the the key caps on the keyboard.
Although it would be advisible to remove the selector
magnets, mine were sealed.
Both TTY's worked much better than it did before. I
did go to TTY Maintenace School in the Military a few
years back. I was never told to do this. But the TTY's
I mentioned earlier were not in good condition before I
started cleaning the old hardened grease deposited af-
ter many years of use.
That was years ago, I don't have them now but they
probably are still working.
I hope this may help someone.

P.S. Do not run the Model 15 over 60, 66 w.p.m. They
were not design for it , it were were down the TTY
quickly. You can run the Kleinschmidt 100 wmp with
little trouble.
