[GreenKeys] Rtty Journal personalities

I might be one of those nuts Ron, getting back on RTTY with a Model 28.

We were on with machines back in the 1960s, when I had a Model 26 and
FRXD-3-EL nontyping reperf.

I just acquired the Model 28 from W1GZS, built up a TTL circuit to process
the AFSK from an old computer-oriented Kantronics TU, and the ol' selector
magnets are now humming in a 60-mA loop. It was great to copy the RTTY
bulletin from W1AW last night. The shack sounded like a UPI office.

Now, where did I put that oil can.......

Well, of course, Irv died several years ago after retiring from United.
I don't know about the others, but there are a lot of old-time RTTY nuts
in the woodwork.

I bought the compete set of the RTTY Journal on CDROM and it's very
nostalgic to scan those TU construction articles. I never built a TTL2
but started with Irv's ST3. With all the plug and play stuff, nothing
comes close to seeing a M28 print from your own handiwork.

$1,000 for a M28ASR was a good price in those days. I sold a nice one
to a guy in S. California for three times that amount. On the other
hand, the Mouse machines were virtually free.
