Roy,
The TT-4 is the first Kleinschmidt labs machine, also know as the commercial
model 100. Production started in 1950. It was sold to US Army Signal Corps
to give them 100 word per minute communication. The same reason Teletype
Corp developed the M28.

As E.E Kleinschmidt is one of the patent holders and designers of the M14
and M15 you will see lots of similarities in the TT-4. The 2 key technical
differences are the selector and the cam lobes.

Selector - As AT&T/ Western Electric/ Teletype Corp owned the M14, &M15
patents due to the sale of Teletype Corp in 1930 a new selector design was
required.

Cam Lobes - The TT4 and subsequent machines have double lobe cams on all the
shafts (180 degrees apart) which allows the rotating mechanism to run at
half speed. If you crank up the speed of a M15 to try to get 100 WPM it
destroys itself!

TT4s were also made by National Cash register - Alternate source / extra
capacity for the Signal corps.

So much for the simple answer of yes! ;>)

Tom
