re: [GreenKeys] RS232 to Loop convertor for Dovetrons

Back in the '70's the autostart group that used to hang out on 14.075MHz
used to use "space de space" or "ZCZC" for the group selective calling code.
Also, everyone was real good with ending their tranmission with NNNN to take
the machines offline.

Sometimes the amount of traffic was so great that some of us had a second
machine and a second selcal with just our call letters.

Some of us had selcal stuff set up on their TD and reperf. Two guys who could
not hear each other well could communicate thru [your] station by turning on
the reperf, typing their message, then turning on the TD to retransmit it to
the other station. Kinda on the illegal side, but the FCC never complained.

I doubt that you could have an autostart group on hf nowadays. I guess it's
due to the appliance operators, but RTTY procedures are non-existent. Just
trying to make a QSO using a machine can be a bear: no carriage returns, no
linefeeds, just dropping the carrier, drifting, etc.

I've worked the computer field for 25 years, and hate seeing the damn things
integrated into amateur radio!

Well, I guess that's enough - and YES, I *would* like some cheeze with
that whine...

@ Good thing, because it would suck to spend a
hp.com dollar and stand in the rainstorm for nothing.
