Hi Jack,

Thanks for the input.  This machine uses normal type size so I imagine
it is an adjustment problem.  I have had great suggestions from a number
of people and I believe I can now attack the problem intelligently.

Roy,

Take a look at the line feed clutch on the mainshaft and
note how many "stops" it has. If you turn the typing unit
on its back, with the selector on the right, the line feed
clutch is the one on the inside of the left side plate. I
don't recall a mod like that, but there's lots of odd ball
mods that Teletype had. For example, if the machine
used large type, it would need two line feeds to
equal one line to accomodate the larger type. Maybe
that's what you have. I didn't look at a 28 just now,
but I think the standard LF clutch has three stops.
