I think the BC 7xx series were rebranded Super Pros of the SP 200, 210, etc.
series from Hammarlund with little if any change. I have one that is the
20 MHz top end with LF band, that is definitely a prewar Hammarlund, but has
Navy grey front panel. Its circuit follows the military manual as far as I
have traced in repairing it.
I believe Hammarlund was using Black panels before that. The power supply
on mine is the military power supply with its nomenclature plate. But, the
receiver is civilian. Either made at the beginning of conversion to
military production, or possibly "loaned" from a patriotic ham. The units
came to me from the Philippines where a U. S. Soldier ham bought them after
WW2.
The phasing control shaft as I recall, is a bakelight type material, and
thus more prone to breaking from blows to the front controls in improper
shipping and handling.
