Hi folks:
Yup, got my Dovetron too! A beautiful bit of work. Thanks to George and
Glen for all their work on this project -- I know they put in a lot of time.
I am working on the new 232-to-loop converter board. It will be a
second-generation of my first board, with some new things added in.
I wanted to see if there was a good place to mount it inside the Dovetron,
but I don't really see a decent spot unless it is hanging down from the top
cover -- then there is a hassle with cabling to the chassis, and propping
the top open for service, and drilling holes for mounting and for a
loop-jack. A benefit would be tapping into the internal (unused) HV
transformer winding. Anyway, I'll leave internal mods to you guys.
For those of you who got my first-gen adapter pcb a couple of years ago (23
of them shipped), you can use it to drive your loop, as Jack pointed
out. The BNC 232 output from the Dovetron connects to the 232 input on the
DB-9 connector of the adapter.
I'll keep you posted on the new board.
