NO it is certainly NOT off topic!!! This whole idea is poorly concieved,
and will be even less if attempted.
It only takes 1 (one) corroded joint for a whole mess of harmonics to be
generated, and that's on the secondaries alone.
Heck, I traced a noise problem down to a corroded lug in my meter
enclosure. That was only 15 feet away from my rig, and was causing all
sorts of really "neat" noise problems. I think it would be more than
safe to extrapolate from this point, to include the many thousands of
really lousy connections out there, that are doing enough damage at 60
HZ., much less broadband. I hear the darn things every time I fire up
the rig (Row House=close (cheap) neighbors= lousy wiring).
I for one am going to lobby the hell out of the ARRL and FCC on this
one..
