FIRST, Thank you for your service to our country.
The ultimate brass polish is BRASSO... sold at many grocery stores,
etc. It can be rinsed with water. You can also use a tapered brush
that are available at hardware stores for cleaning glass tubes. If
you have trouble with plugs get some shoe lacing and tie one end to a
solid object, wrap the lacing around the plug and run the plug back
and forth a tiny bit of brasso on a small part of the lacing will
work. Another good product for polishing brass is the BLITZ cloth
but they are harder to find. Some hardware stores carry these
products. If you want to stay "dry" you can purchase small dowel rod
and some fine emory paper or emory cloth. Wrap and glue the emory
stuff around the dowel rod leaving a flap to take up any slop; after
it is dry you can clean the jacks without the liquid.
Good luck,
Don
