[GreenKeys] Code Converters

In the 1970's, the famous "UT-4" was used to convert
60wpm to 100wpm and vice versa (Baudot). It had some buffering
memory with FIFO's. I think the schematic is on the
RTTY.COM webpage. The Flesher TS128 was essentially
the UT-4 dressed up to mate with the Flesher TU170 Converter.
A company called Black Box makes a small unit called
a "CAP", Code Adaptor Plus, which converts just about
anything to anything (ASCII to Baudot, and other oddball
codes) with some buffering. I paid $200+ for my first one and
about $5 for the second (Hamfest find). The small unit
(in a black box, of course) is RS232 in and out. I drive it
from one of the Tempest Dovetrons and then key the loop with my
"cheater" polar relay driven by the RS232 output. Works
pretty well and doesn't pile up when converting 100 wpm to 60
wpm like the standard Dovetron "speed converter" does.
