Hello Elden et. al.,

BASIC DESCRIPTION OF A DOVETRON:
A Dovetron is an electronic TTU, (abbreviation for TeleType Terminal Unit).
It goes in between the radio and your teletype unit. Think of it as a MODEM
or DECODER. A Dovetron is a very beautiful piece of gear, mostly black,
but with LED's in the center to help you tune the signal in, and lots of knobs
to adjust for proper reception/transmission. They are highly valued because
of excellence in assembly, beauty, and proper function.

ALSO SEE: HAL ST-5000, Kantronics "The Interface", MFJ RTTY interface,
and other brands of TU's (terminal units) for similar-functioning items
(although
none as beautiful to behold as a Dovetron!)

The aforementioned is merely the OPINION of KR4WM- Web Williams

P.S. I doubt seriously you'll ever see another weather broadcast in RTTY,
but if someone knows of one- please let me know! There is a new service
called NAVTEX that is similar to RTTY that provides buoy and weather
information on VLF. 518KHz comes to mind??? (If anyone is that interested
I will look it up.) You might be able to copy the info to a TTY machine...
instead of to a PC....? I have used my MFJ-1278 to copy it a long time
ago. It sounds similar to AMTOR one-way broadcasts.
