Hi Joe and others,
Yes, I'm afraid Dovetron is "belly up". When I first bought one, about two
or three years ago, I phoned the guy and asked to buy a manual. He was
very gruff with me, almost like he didn't want any business! Within a few
weeks his website was gone, then the phone number was disconnected
when I finally decided to buy the manual. I got one from W7FG in a swap
for a couple hundred old Collins manuals. There's not very much hookup
info in it, mostly just operational info. But there is a schematic and some
info about options. The "Tempest" feature is just high-quality shielding to
prevent stray RF from being picked up and used by the enemy or interfering
with other equipment. I'm fairly certain it doesn't entail any additional electronics,
just attention to grounding, BNC jacks for connections, and perhaps a little extra
metal here and there inside. I have been searching the internet for Dovetron
information for quite some time. The best source of information I have found
has been the Greenkeys list!!! In particular, the fellow named Jack- (can't find
his callsign right now- it's a WA2 something.....) Don't want to give him an ego
trip, but he's one smart fellow! Hopefully my chores will let up today and I'll
get to play with my Dovetron- had it a few years and never have hooked it
up! I have to go buy some itty-bitty coax to make the connections- don't have
any laying about.
Kindest Regards As Always, -Web Williams in Myrtle Beach, SC

>(hmmm, sounds like an idea for my next web site project).
