Greenkeyers,

My first TTY was a Model 26 and I wore it out
copying the press on RTTY. I have another one
which is in good operating condition. I do
recall once seeing a similar machine but in a
squared-off cabinet with a slot on the top
for the paper to move back and forth. I know
it has the cylindrical type wheel and that
the platen moved. The Model 26 cabinet/cover
that most of us are familiar with has been
called the "Mae West" cover due to its small
"waist". The table, which is really integral to
the machine's operation, is wood veneer over
thick cardboard...the legs are solid wood. My
original machine, purchased from W2ZKV in New
York City by recommendation of Byron Kretzman,
W2JTP, came from a TWX installation in New Jersey.
From what I remember, getting a 26 was a lot easier
than getting a Model 15 (in 1960).
There was also a tape printer which had a similar
typewheel configuration.
