Those of us who played with crystal radios when we were kids remember that
the best
"antenna" was the fingerwheel stop on the old telephone. That curved metal
piece was usually
grounded through the telephone cord and it acted as a pretty good conductor.
They
no longer exist thanks to the advent of "Touchtone"!

Anything metallic will make a good antenna...matching the metal's impedance
at the
desired receiving frequency to that of the receiver can be done with a
simple
antenna tuner/matching network. Tune for maximum noise.
