I suggest starting out on with Google.com and do a search on the
ST-8000, over 1200 hits. The ST-8000 supports RS-232 in
both BAUDOT and ASCII interfaces.  We have some software at 
http://www.rtty.com in the technical library under software at:

A recent sale of a ST-8000 by Jon, K1US at mailto:[email protected] 
suggests that he could be a useful source of information (but you
