Tom, Greg & Group,
The current Hubbell connectors are interchangeble/intermateable with the
vintage one, and will plug into surface or flush mounted vintage chassis
connectors. However, there is a problem if the chassis connector is recessed as the
present day cable connector bodies are at least in some cases slightly large in
outside diameter than the originals. And unfortunately the wall thickness of
the cable connector bodies is or may be too thin to simply turn down in a
lathe. I haven't tried specifically any on TTY or other wire equipment but this
is the case with the 110 VAC input connector for the BC-610-(*) radio
transmitter. Whenever I go to fleamarkets or garage/yard sales, I always keep an eye
out for boxes of miscellaneous electrical items, usually on the ground under
the tables. And when I spot one, go through it for two and three-pole twist-lok
connectors.
Another point worth keeping in mind is that although there are several
different two and three-pole model numbers, depending on voltage and current rating,
the physical differences are only in the male prongs and the faces of the
plastic bodies of the female connectors. The actual contacts inside of the
female connectors are all the same (at least in those that I have examined). The
physical difference is in the location and direction of bend or turn-out of the
polarizing key on one of the contacts. Knowing this, I was able to "make" a
few BC-610 power plugs a few years ago.
