[GreenKeys] 32/33 print hammer

Hi
That's the sort of thing I was afraid of.
Is the disk it snaps around part of the hammer or is it a separate part?
In other words is there a third part (disk) floating around in all of this?
If the disk comes off of the hammer arm then we might simply be able to
replace the whole thing. If it is part of the hammer it's self then I agree
that we would need to come up with something to address the issue.
One idea we haven't talked about - silicone rubber. I have used it to pot
and cast all kinds of weird things. You can get it in a variety of hardness
grades. Most of what I have seen would be a bit soft for this application. I
suspect though that there are compositions out there that would be hard
enough.
What I'm thinking of is a *simple* mould. All it would be is a hole in a
block with a bump in the middle. You would pour the goo into the cavity and
the top surface of the pour would be the front of the hammer.
Usually silicon rubber is the last thing you try to use due to cost. I
*think* it does well in heat and oil. It certainly does well in heat alone.
Silicone may triple the cost of the project, but we started out spending
pocket change. Three times pocket change still may not be a lot.
I'm going to have to go up to storage and take a look at a couple of model
33 hammers .... The ones I have don't have original rubber faces on them.
They were modified with a glob of silicon RTV cement ... I never tried to
cut it off to see what was under it.
Take Care!
