That "black box" ticker
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2549226778  was likely
originally used for stock quotes and later in their lives, many were used
for sports scores. To see that sell for over $1200 was unbelievable. Even
$600 would've been pricey (though it did seem to be an older model according
to the listing.) Condition, at least as depicted by the photos, didn't look
very good despite commentary to the contrary.
Jeff, Collector of stock tickers. I would think that most any owner, myself
included, would gladly sell off a black box ticker for $1,200.
