The machine is later than 1880.  It has a KS number meaning it was 
built for Western Electric under a specification written in Kearny, 
New Jersey.  The device is a pen recorder.  They were used for years 
at telephone companys to trouble-shoot circuits by following the 
current flow in a circuit.  I understand that under certain 
conditions they could print the dots and dashes of Morse code.  There 
are quite a few of these around and the value is $100. or less 
depending on condition.

At any rate it is not a TICKER and it is not a TELETYPE.
