To: all Greenkeyers
I have recently acquired a M28ASR which has been modified in the past to
use a TDD modem for communications with the hearing impaired. It has all
of the components present as far as the printer, perf, and TD, but lacks
all ESU's. Line units, and most especially, the Line/Local switch, and
switch lever. I have no way of using this as a 60ma loop supply to power
the rest of my stuff, which I was hoping to do. I also wanted to have
the "gearshift" feature to shift between 60/75/100 WPM.
The model info is as follows:
The outer case is gray/green WU livery.
The keyboard base is a 23R Printer/Perforator base S/N 35175 This is
the one which has the "fractions" on the keyboard, the "stop" on "Figs
H" and the "Bell" on the "Figs S".
The Printer ('Typing Unit') is Mod 28F S/N 70167
The non typing perforator is Mod LPE-1 S/N 18968
The TD is Mod 28H, which I haven't removed to see the serial number as
of this time.
The unit works great, when interfaced with the old TDD modem which I
recieved with the unit.
OK, my requirements:
First, I will be willing to trade or swap any present components for the
ones I desire.
I need a ESU (both) for this unit, both the small one and the large one,
as well as the associated line unit, to enable this to operate on a
standard 60 ma neutral loop.
I would like a typing perforator instead of the nontyping one..
I would like the "gearshift" assembly to be able to do speed changes so
I may copy 100WPM when available.
I would like a typing reperforator, and the accompanying front panel
with the tape outlet opening., along with the cable to connect same to
the base unit.
Since I have a standard typebox, I would like to know if I have to
change the entire keyboard-perforator base to change to a standard
milspec key layout, instead of the fractions, etc. or just change
keytops, as the "figs" characters are the only ones different.
I would also appreciate any leads on replacement ribbons for the
printer, the typing perf (when I obtain same) and the Typing Reperf
(again, when one is obtained.)
It appears that most of the original wiring is present, and has not been
removed from the cabinet, the only thing that has been done is to bring
both the selector magnets and the send output out to a standardd 3
conductor patch panel plug.
The rest of the unit is fine, and all the mountings are there for the
ESU's in the base, they just have been removed in the past.
I also would appreciate anyone who has a manual for this unit, as I have
the manual for a 28 KSR and 28RO, as well as the TD and typing reperf,
but not for the 28 ASR. I do have the old "RTTY" manual which has some
of the wiring listed, but a complete manual would be helpful.
In addition, I need a manual for a "Mite" TT-299B/UG. If anyone can
help me out here, please let me know
73 es tnx for bearing with me through this long screed.
